Sterling Springs

Site Information
Gage NameSterling Springs

The Sterling Springs Low-Flow gage was installed by the Salt River Project in cooperation with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and the Coconino National Forest to monitor flows from Sterling Springs. Oak Creek originates from Sterling Springs located just above the Sterling Springs Fish Hatchery. The gage measures the outflow from the springs, which is conveyed through the hatchery, and downstream to Forest Service lands. Flows at Sterling Springs vary throughout the day because of operational management of the hatchery. Therefore data represented are daily average flows (gpm), allowing for overall understanding of spring discharge.
